Opistorchis is a parasite that usually resides in the liver, urine bladder or bile duct in humans. Risks of getting infected are increase by eating raw, smoked or lightly prepared fish dishes and infections are found in both Europe as well as in Asia.
The liverfluke (Fasciola hepatica) exists on all continents except antarctica. It is widely spread in South America, Egypt and many other places around the globe, including Europe.
Snailfever or Bilharzia, also know as Shistosomiasis, is a disease caused by a fluke from the Shistosoma family.
